Seattle Rueda

It’s true! Maykel Blanco in his first US tour will be playing in Bellingham (Blue Horse) on Saturday 10/15 and in Seattle (Club Sur) on Sunday 10/16. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to meet this world famous band and dance to them with all your energy. A bailarrrr!

The band initially just had Miami, New York and San Francisco and now thanks to a combined effort is coming to the Northwest. Both concerts are guaranteed to be sold out.

For the Bellingham show: doors open at 9pm. There will be a Timba lesson at 9:30pm and a dance demo. Also the night will be invaded by Casineros, Timberos and Rumberos from Vancouver, Canada and Seattle, that means Rueda will be popping all night (and then we’ll take to the streets!)

Note: This same show is $50 a ticket in New York and San Francisco. Due to the cost of the event we have limited the amount of pre-sale tickets to cover the expenses. Get your tickets soon at:

Hola salseros! There are two good reasons to come visit us in Bellingham next weekend (July 16-17): we’ll be celebrating one year of Rumba Northwest at our Café Cubano event on Saturday night AND Zarabanda will be playing a free outdoor concert on Sunday afternoon (on the Village Green in Fairhaven, 2-5pm). We’ll do some Rueda-in-the-Park right afterward.
Café Cubano is 9:30pm-12:30am, we’ll kick it off with a Cuban Salsa lesson, followed by the best mix of salsa, cha cha, merengue, bachata, reggaeton, mambo and son. At the Blue Horse Gallery Cafe (301 W Holly), $5 per person, all ages.
Let us know if you need a place to crash on Saturday, we’ll find a spot for you.

Antonio will also be teaching two classes tomorrow (Saturday July 9) in Bellingham at the Firehouse Performing Arts Center: Afro-Cuban (with live drummers) 3-4pm, Cuban son 4:15-5:15, call us for more info!

Cuba comes to Bellingham this Saturday June 18th at the Blue Horse Gallery Cafe with more and more beautiful dancing. We’ll start the night with a Cuban Son lesson, the most influential style of dance that led to today’s “Salsa”. Followed by a demo by Rumba Northwest dancers and the best Latin dance music: Salsa, Timba, Merengue, Bachata, Son, Mambo, Cha-cha-cha, Afro-Cuban and Reggeaton. Rueda de Casino always happens throughout the evening. Doors open at 9pm lesson starts 9:30pm. $5 cover includes lesson. A bailar!!!

Great to see everyone on Friday at Club Sur and at the Saturday workshop! Here’s an update on Rumba Northwest events and classes in Bellingham.

CAFE CUBANO this Saturday April 2nd 8-11:30pm at Blue Horse Cafe and Wine Bar. Come dance to the best mix of salsa, cha cha, merengue, bachata, son, and reggaeton. $5 cover, all ages! Appetizers and drinks available. Last Saturday’s event drew over 125 people, Seattle when are you joining the party??? After April 2nd, the next Cafe Cubano will take place April 23rd, then roughly every two weeks.

AFRO-CUBAN ALL-STARS Friday, April 8, Mt. Baker Theatre, 8pm. I know, they’re playing three gigs in Seattle, but this show is cheaper AND it’s on a Friday night. There will be some space to dance in front of the stage. We will probably have an after-party so let us know if you’re coming so we can keep you in the loop.
