Clave Gringa, SWOJO Plays an Ann Reynolds’ Song

Posted by on 27 Oct 2014 | Tagged as: Events, Music

Here are two announcements from Ann Reynolds, who just released a terrific album, Para Cuba Con Amor.
Tuesday Nov 4 – part of the Earshot Jazz Festival – Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra (SWOJO) with special guest Grace Kelly plays at the Triple Door.
SWOJO will be featuring compositions by women that night (including my own composition, No Necesito un Nombre, and the winning compositions from our 2nd Annual Women Composers competition).
Grace Kelly is an amazing alto, soprano sax player and singer. She is also terrific fun to watch – a 22 year old petite bundle of energy on the stage. The performance will begin at 8 PM (although the Triple Door site says 7:30 PM).
Come to this swank music club to celebrate women in music
Thursday Nov 13 – Clave Gringa plays at the Art of Jazz series at the Seattle Art Museum. 5:30-7:30 PM; free.
This is a wonderful honor to be asked to play a concert in this series. Come by after work; come downtown at the end of your day and enjoy original Cuban Jazz. For this concert, Kiki Valera will be on cuatro, Daniel Barry on trumpet, Pedro Vargas on timbales, Steve Smith on bongo and congas, Dean Schmidt on bass, and myself on piano. A wonderful warm way to finish your day – come by after work.

This from Ann Reynolds:

Clave Gringa Especial will be back at North City Bistro – we sold out the place last time and had a terrific time. Kiki Valera (from Santiago de Cuba) will again be on cuatro, Steve Smith on percussion, and for the first time, Dean Schmidt will be joining us on bass. This is a power lineup, but it’s an intimate setting and gives us a chance to do some fun music.

North City Bistro has terrific food (small and large plates), is very reasonably priced, has great wines, and a very comfortable atmosphere. This is a place you want to discover. If you missed it last time, don’t miss it again. If you were there before, you know you want to return with more friends. Make reservations by calling 206-365-4447; or We play from 8-10 PM; cover charge is $8.
