Hello All!

Come out and join us for the last Casino on Cardboard: Alki Beach Party for this Summer season–Tonight, Thurs, Aug 27th, 7pm. Enjoy the last days of August’s sun and warm weather by dancing with the sunset as a backdrop.

Also–a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped with unloading, set-up, and break-down each week this summer. It couldn’t have been pulled off this year without a group effort.

I just wanted to give a Big Thanks to all the members of the Supersones who gave their time and energy to play for us last night, and help create one of the most fun & memorable ALKI, CASINO ON CARDBOARD dance parties EVER!

Big Thanks to Jan and Eddie for the cardboard and music logistics!!
AND EVERYONE ELSE…who volunteered set-up/clean-up to make the evening a BLAST.

Hey all, I have hurt my ankle (don’t ask me how cause I don’t know) it’s just swollen and hurts to walk. I have the cardboard and the Block rocker music box. I need someone to pick them up from my house and take them to Alki.  Call me (206-295-0651) or email (eddiea24@comcast.net) to make arrangements. Otherwise no beach.

John is camping, Georgia can’t make it, and Jan has out of town guests, So I have the cardboard, ducttape and the the block-rocker for music. I just need a little help setting things up. Let me know if you can be at Alki around 7PM

He’ll be here on Thursday, August 20th to join us at our Casino on Cardboard Beach Party (with the WOOT WOOT SuperSones playing for us outdoors!!!) 

(Other events for the weekend: Ricardo Lemvo Thursday @ Century post-Alki; House Party on Saturday night; BBQ for Duane on Sunday post-practica…)

Duane is an incredible instructor and is an expert on movement, not just Cuban but other forms of salsa and other Latin dances.

Duane is considered one of the top instructors of Afro-Cuban Salsa (Casino) style dancing in the Midwest.

His background ranges from Cuban Rumba, Son, Capoeira, and Break dancing. Duane specializes in Casino style dancing with an Energetic Soul*sa Twist.

12 pm – The mindset of leading and following. Who is the true leader?
1 pm – Casino workshop not just what we do in the rueda
2 pm – Soul*sa – How to transition from circular dancing to linear dancing
3 pm – On-Time /Contrary Time/On 1 – On 2 – learn how to switch from 1-2 seamlessly (most popular)

12 pm – Rueda de Casino (This is how we move it!) Drills class for keeping the wheel moving. The focus of this class is NOT Casino turn patterns…
1 pm – Men’s Body Movement for dancing to Cuban Rhythms
2 pm – Women’s Body Movement for Dancing to Cuban Rhythms
