Who: All are welcome.

Why: To get feedback from current and past practica participants on ideas for improving the Sunday practica format to better accommodate a range of levels, ensure it’s a place where people can reliably have fun and improve their dancing, and ensure that dancer-to-dancer communication is courteous and constructive.

Details: A small group of practica participants created an agenda for this meeting. The meeting will present a very short history of how the community practica began and has been run, present several ideas for tweaking and improving the current practica format, and facilitate a community discussion of these ideas. There is another special holiday event at Sonny’s on January 1, so we need to reschedule practica for the day. We’re currently planning to dance 3:30-5:30 pm on January 1, then go back to our regular 4:30-6:30 schedule for all subsequent Sundays. Please pass the word — and watch this space especially on the weekend in case there need to be any further adjustments.

Sunday Practica is on for Christmas Day. However, we will be meeting from 4:00 to 6:00 pm — starting and ending half an hour earlier than usual — to accommodate a waltz party that starts at 6pm. Please pass the word to anyone who might not be watching the blog.

I hope for another sunny Sunday before we go indoors. I’ll post here on the blog by noon each Sunday where we’ll be, so check in before you start traveling.

We’ll keep the music going so everyone can dance. No instruction or new moves today unless you can do it to the music. (That said, our last party, four or five people joined us for the very first time. If you see someone you don’t know, please welcome them and see if you can get them dancing. And remind everyone, next week is outdoors at our summer home at Gas Works Park.)

If you’d like to bring a snack (finger food) or drink (non-alcoholic) to share, that will add to the party.

It’s supposed to be 68 and partly sunny on Sunday, so let’s meet outdoors.

We meet at the pedestrian stairs where Wallingford Ave meets the Burke-Gilman Trail and N Northlake Way. It’s on the northwest corner of the park itself, just west of the main parking lot.

NOTE: If it starts raining before 3 pm then meet at Sonny Newman’s instead. If the weather shifts later in the day, and there’s any rain during practica, we’ll just move a few hundred yards east from the Wallingford Steps over to the covered picnic area on the east side of Gas Works Park.
