Location for practica in the fall

Posted by on 30 Jun 2013 | Tagged as: Practice

Just a quick update about the indoor dance season: A week ago we used the Salsa N Seattle small (front) studio for Seattle Rueda Sunday practica. We had a good showing there including several people who regularly dance at Salsa N Seattle. Parking was easy, the sound system and the floor were good, and the place was comfortable.  I believe we were in general agreement that this would be a good home for Sunday practica during the indoor season and it makes us part of a larger community that has some interest in what we do. So at this point it looks like we will move forward with renting Salsa N Seattle’s studio in the fall.

Stuff to watch for, help needed

We had a great practica at Salsa N Seattle, and were joined by several people who dance there regularly. It looks like this will be a great location for us in the fall.

It also looks like Reinier Valdez will be hosting a Saturday night Cuban dance social at Salsa N Seattle a couple times a month starting July 13 , so the studio may start to feel like a home for our community. I believe this is going to be two Saturdays per month with a 9 or 10 pm start time.

Last year Rumba Northwest invited us to dance on the San Juan Ferry. Rumba NW won’t be holding the ferry event this year, but there’s no reason we can’t contact the ferry folks and try to arrange to dance on, say, the Bremerton ferry. If anyone would like to organize that please step forward.

Also, if someone would like to organize a “Seattle Rueda goes hiking” event that would be more than welcome too. I envision a moderate hike with somewhere flat at the destination where we can make some noise without disturbing the wildlife or other hikers. If you have a suggestion or would like to organize this, let me know.

Finally, I am looking for someone to help out by posting events on this blog and making sure everything relevant to Cuban music and dance in Seattle gets posted on the Seattle Casineros Facebook page too.

See you dancing,

Betsy
