Perform with Todo Folklore in Solstice Parade

Todo Folkore Cubano is participating in the Fremont Summer Solstice Parade on Saturday, June 22.  The parade starts at 3pm and takes 1-2 hours.
We would like to make a really big showing at the parade and inviting guests to dance, play and sing with us in the parade.  We’re going to play, sing and dance the Conga.
What do you need to do to participate?
1. Wear a costume or clothes of your choice, but see parade rules below.
2. Attend at least one of the rehearsals on June 2, 9, or 16 to learn a few dance steps & lyrics.
REHEARSALS: Sundays on June 2, 9 and 16 from 3-5pm at Neva’s Studio 816 N. 38th St., Seattle 98103.  The studio is on the bottom floor of an apartment building.  Enter from Aurora Ave. is coming from the north or via Fremont Way N.
No written or printed words
No logos
No animals (except service dogs)
No motorized vehicles (except wheelchairs)
No real weapons or fire

New Location for Sunday Practica, June

Seattle Rueda Sunday practica is MOVING. We will be at Salsa N Seattle June 2, 9, 16 & 23.  1200 Stewart (at Minor Ave, just south of Denny). Free street parking or $2 lot.

Starting June 30 we’ll be at the Wallingford steps for summer. If the weather is good, we may dance outside before June 30, so check here or

We’ll see how we like the Salsa N Seattle space. There may be another option for fall.

Alki Beach 2013 dance season to resume on May 31st

Casino on Cardboard got off to a fun, early start last Friday. Let’s postpone dancing at Alki Beach this week, 5/24/2013 and resume the dancing on May 31st.

Folklife Festival Freakout Rooftop Salsa Potluck Party

This is where you’ll find a place to sit, eat, drink, dance, and mingle without hordes of Folklife Festival Freaks cramping your style.

Folklife Festival Freaks, party on the rooftop under sunny skies after Antonio & Heather’s Cuban salsa/rueda de casino class Memorial Day afternoon, before heading back over for the massive annual salsa dance! Antonio & Heather’s class will be from 1:00 – 2:00 at the Seattle Center during the Folklife Festival on Monday, May 27th. The single biggest salsa dance of the year is at the Folklife Festival which will be from 6:00 – 10:00 In the Center House of the Seattle Center. The rooftop potluck party will take place just a short walk away in Belltown, right in between from around 2:00 – 6:00. It will be the best place to hang out, relax, eat, drink, take a break, and get recharged for more Folklife festivities.

Time: Memorial Day Monday, May 27, 2013 2:00-6:00 pm

Location: Centennial Court Apartments 2550 3rd Ave Seattle, WA 98121

Entry: Press “#333” on the intercom, say “Folklife Freakout,” and we’ll buzz you in.

Bring: something tasty to eat or drink. A barbecue grill is available.

Music: Latin music of the Salsa, Mambo, Cuban, and Timba variety. Be our guest DJ, by bringing some favorite CDs or your iPod.

Notes: Free street parking is available on the holiday, but there will be plenty of Folklife Freaks to contest with. The building is close enough to the Festival to park and just walk to both.

Kids are welcome! The rooftop party and Folklife are great for all ages.

Omo Alagba presents an Album Release of “Iyaranla (Oro Cantado)”
, a first of its kind recording of these Afro-Cuban sacred songs, funded by the Seattle Office of Art & Cultural Affairs. Contributions at this donation-only event will help fund their journey to the Orisa World Congress in Nigeria, where they have been invited to bring the tradition “home” after centuries of separation. Expect fiery drumming, heart-wrenching vocals, and spirited dancing!!
