Posted by on 17 Apr 2011 | Tagged as: Instruction

Greetings Casineros,
Back by popular demand, duane Wrenn will be back in Seattle to teach workshops.
Here are the workshop descriptions. We gave him feedback about what we wanted so he is catering to our needs as dancers. All workshops will be at the ARC Studio

SATURDAY – April 30th

Workshop #1: 12-1pm – Fitness for SALSA Dancers -This class features a warm up, followed by body movement, core strength training, drills to improve dancing agility, and stretching.

Workshop #2:  1:15-2:15pm – Energetic Salsa con tImbA – This footwork class is based on the concept of Energetic Salsa. Energetic Salsa takes 7-9 fundamental steps and creates patterns and combinations that apply to specific rhythms. The focus for this class is steps and movements that apply to Rhythms under the tImBa umbrella.

Workshop #3: 2:30-3:30pm – Over standing the “No Back Step Rule – How to Lead it, How to Read it” -This class will answer all the questions, look at different scenarios, and
evaluate, not back stepping. What are the advantages vs. disadvantages? When
is the best time and why? As it applies to Social dancing vs. Rueda dancing.

SUNDAY, May 1st
Workshop #4: 12-1pm – Soul*Sa in your Casino – This class looks at the popular three movements of Soul*Sa as they apply to Casino. We will add two variations with the 3 movements and look at several options for unlimited variables. The focus is for social dancing with a partner.

Workshop #5: 1:15-2:15pm – Cuban Folkore Fundamentals – Getting back to the roots of Cuban dance, this class will teach you some of the basic movements that will incorporate Orisha and rumba body movement as a way to enhance casino and social dancing.

Workshop #6:  2:30-3:30pm – Back to Basics “Me Leader…You Follower” – the Art of Social Dancing” – This class is part discussion mostly dancing. The goal is to strip the idea of partner social dancing down to its core essence. What truly is the leader and who truly leads? We will try to decide is we are really social dancing or not?

MONDAY, May 2nd

Workshop #7:  7-9pm – Original Rueda Moves for Seattle – This title speaks for itself. Transitions and patterns designed for Seattle will be learned. We will have a blast. All levels are welcome.

TUESDAY – Private Lessons – Contact Maritza to schedule. All private lessons will be at Ofer & Jennifer’s house:

WEDNESDAY, May 4th

Workshop #8: 7-9pm  – Instructors Only Class – The instructors class is designed as anything goes class. Where the objective is to share thoughts, create moves and see where the time takes us. Let’s build…

Salsa and Rueda Vacation in Tulum, Mexico

Posted by on 04 Apr 2011 | Tagged as: Events, Instruction

Salseros, Casineros, y Ruederos,

We wanted to let you know that this summer we’ll be hosting our third Salsa and Rueda Vacation in Tulum, Mexico. The dates are Saturday July 16th to Sunday, July 24th. Our previous two trips have been positively heavenly — fun and interesting people sharing their love of dance and music and enjoying the beautiful beaches and unique experiences that the area has to offer.

For the full details, plus photos and testimonials from our previous trips, please visit our website: www.RuedaConRitmo.com/tulum.html

If you join us in Tulum, every morning you’ll be able enjoy Ryan’s class, Rhythm and Listening for Salsa Dancers, and/or Sidney’s invigorating Salsa Workout and Body Movement class. Then, each evening we’ll offer 2 hours of Salsa and Rueda classes and a Dance Party featuring the best Cuban music. It’s a wonderful way to improve your dance and appreciation of music.

In between the morning and evening classes, you’ll have the full day to relax and explore. Zamas, the resort where we’ll be dancing, is literally located 10 feet from the Caribbean, in front of a perfect crescent beach. Tulum is largely undeveloped, and the resorts that have been built, including Zamas, are environmentally low-impact and ecologically sustainable. Nearby you can easily enjoy snorkeling, diving, swimming with sea turtles, Mayan ruins, a UNESCO wildlife sanctuary, and much more. It’s pretty much paradise.

We are offering a special 10% DISCOUNT on room rates and the dance classes if you sign up by April 15th.

Please contact us at ryanandsidney@gmail.com or 301-775-6142 if you have any questions or are considering joining us.

We hope that you will join us in Mexico this July!

Cariño y abrazos,

Ryan and Sid
