This year we are making some changes to our annual Alki beach parties.  We changed the night from Thursday to Friday, and we are purchasing a more solid dance floor.  Yes, after years of dancing on refrigerator cartons and duct tape we are about to upgrade our beach-dancing experience!  The reasons are mainly:

1. Transporting and storing the cardboard dance floor requires a van or large SUV, and we have a limited number of people with appropriate vehicles.
2. Setting up the cardboard dance floor each week is labor-intensive, and it is usually the same small number of people doing this work.
3. Duct tape costs about $17 each week, and it cannot be re-used.

Nadja has researched new flooring and purchased sample pieces for review by the group.  A new 15′ x 15′ portable dance floor will cost about $1103.  We can use some money from our rueda fund (for winter rental at Sonny Newman’s) to cover the purchase, but we also need donations from YOU!

We expect this floor to last several years, so take that into consideration when donating.  How much is our Alki beach dance worth to you?  $10? $20? $50? more?  We would like to raise as much as possible right now, to be able to purchase and use the floor right away.

Please give your donations to Nadja, Jain, Kyra, or Christina, and all money will be forwarded to the dance floor fund.  If donating by check, make it out to Nadja Honeywell.  Please give what you can to support this project.

See you at the beach!
