Rueda Practice

Posted by on 29 Nov 2009 | Tagged as: Practice

Hello Everyone!
Just a reminder that we will be reviewing “setenta moderna” that we did these last two weeks, and dedo-guarapo-y-bota. The new step I’ll show everyone, is called “Bacardi Limon.” If you want a taste of it now, check out this SalsAtlanta video of Julian teaching the move on YouTube. I may not be as good as he, but I will give it a try. It’s a cool move that requires the follows to be loose in their arms and shoulders because there are some quick alardes in there and they are marked in the timing. It has a sombrero beginning and a sombrero ending. Here is a preview at “Barcardi Limon.”

Casineros wanted for a rueda demo in Tacoma

Posted by on 25 Nov 2009 | Tagged as: Events, Instruction

Hello Everyone,
I have great news. For the last six months I have been trying to find a way to spread the love of rueda de casino in Tacoma. I now have a place to teach at the Tacoma Amory beginning January 9, 2010 on Saturday afternoons.

The DJ at the Abby Ballroom has agreed to let me do a demo of reuda on Saturday night Dec 5th to promote my class. This would be the day after the big Havana Night’s party. Would there be anyone interested in helping me do this demo? Let me know.

Baile Cubano Mail List

Posted by on 25 Nov 2009 | Tagged as: Admin

As some of you already know, Eddie maintains a subscription mail list formerly know as “Maiensy’s Dance Classes List.”  That list has become the Baile Cubano Mail List now.  It will continue to be used to notify people of special events.  It continues to be a moderated list meaning postings have to be approved by the moderator and that only the moderator has access to your email addresses.  This controls the volume, secures your emails and prevents spam.

The only difference is that you can now subscribe at will without having to send an email (and bribe) to Eddie asking him to add you to list.  TO SUBSCRIBE go to

In addition to notifying you of special events this list will be used as the primary guest list for parties like Havana Nights.  To make that a little easier, when subscribing please enter your NAME – ignore the “optional”, if you will.

Stay warm and dry!  See you soon, chaille

This is a shout out to all of you beautiful people. Unknown to me …or maybe I forgot to listen….Balalus has schedualed a private party tomorrow night Wednesday the 25th so there will be no salsa there. I talked to Miguel – Owner of Selena’s Guadalajara next door to Babalu’s as you know – and he’s up for a night of dancing and music . If you are up for it too…– It’s a long weekend…get your turkey in early….text me at 206 8413426 or facebook me or email me @ and if enough people respond…I’m thinking 30+ ( Pancho from Cambalache has a group that wants to go out as does Georgia ) then I will book it. need to know by midday tomorrow ( Wednesday) so I can get Selena’s prepaired for the onslot.

Here’s to good times and good music and the dancing fever of salsa cubana…!!!

Cheers … Dj Baracoa
