Son y Cha Cha Cha

Here’s a Cuban couple transitioning in and out of son and cha cha cha with a live band (in Havana). Food for thought for those of you who are attending Ann’s workshop on 9/24.

Great stuff, Cat!
If you watch it with the sound on mute, you can even see the transition with the beat into cha-cha-cha and out of it. cool!
great footage- thanks Cat
watch the guiro player – he is just hitting on every beat during the son, but transitions into the cha-cha-cha pattern- that’s a key signal.
if you go to Havana, you can always find a son band and the demonstation dancers at this place- La Taberna in Havana Vieja (not far from Plaza San Francisco). and, if you tip the dancers, you can grab one as a partner for a dance
JEEZ. i love the singer. his voice is wild!
i like how smoothly and simply these dancers move, and transition, nothing flashy or overdone.
nice video, cat.
So elegant…just beautiful. Loved the man’s tornillo(sp?)and what he did following it.
