HI again! It was brought up again yesterday that people are not happy with the music at sunday practice. Guess what! If you are coming , you are very welcome to bring some music you like. I have a limited selection and it’s all of our practice… so we can all contribute! It’s very welcome if you bring some. Try to incorporate Cuban music as much as possible in ratio to LA salsa since we are doing a cuban dance. Thanks much!!

That’s right. They’re going to be doing some fun rueda dancing north of the border pretty soon. Here’s an announcement that I got from Julio up in Vancouver. I think I’m going to run up there and enjoy the night with them. Here you go.

Let’s go back to Havana!!! The first Big Cuban Fiesta of 2009 is taking place on Friday January 30th at the conveniently located Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel, right on Kingsway and 12th Ave. Here’s what we have to offer:
- TWO Rueda dance performances by ESTILO CUBANO (full Cuban flavour) and SALSABROSA (Canada’s only all-female Rueda team!). Both teams are currently championing the Rueda phenomenon in this city.
- DJ mixing a heavy load of Cuban Salsa, Reggaeton, Salsaton, Merengue & Bachata.
- Complementary dance lesson by Michael Rosen from Mas Movement!!
- the Cuban dance videos are back!!! Just check the big screen when you’re taking a little break; we’ll be displaying interesting footage all night.
- and here’s a surprise: get ready to play a special Rueda game at some point after midnight!!!!
The Cuban Fiesta is a social dance event in an environment reminiscent of an island party: we like to shake it and we love to smile. It doesn’t matter how well you can dance!

Hey Guys,
Since I have some free time now, I thought I’d finally post some stuff lying around my hard drive and camera tapes…Here are some cool vids of the beach party last summer (which seems like yesterday..yikes…minus the sun/temps), and I especially love the double-follow Rueda lead by Ryan and Dennis…sorry it’s kinda dark…it’s called night time!

HI Friends
It was brought to my attention yesterday that we need some new music. Can one or more of you volunteer to burn a new Cd or 2 with some mid tempo Cuban music for us to play? Also, another thing we may want is to get the type of cord/jack to plug in Ipods to Sonny’s system. Eddie may know what it would be… I’m happy to reimburse if we get one, and keep it there for our use.
