Posting this event that was sent to me at work:
For the third consecutive year, we the Somos El Son Salsa Dance Company are having our Halloween Salsa Event this Friday, October 24th @ Waid’s.
We are super excited about this yearly event as it is the biggest one of the year for us and always is a fun time.
By coming to this party, you can expect to:
• See some incredible costumes
• Watch people try to dance in their incredible costumes
• Listen to the best of Salsa music and dance until 3am on an amazing dance floor
• Have some tasty cocktails in a surreal Halloween decor
• Watch sizzling Salsa performances by some of the best dancers in Seattle
• Participate in a costume contest and get a chance to win a full pass to the upcoming Seattle Salsa Congress (value of about $250) graciously offered by Rico Bravo and Samantha Brava
In all honesty, we cannot see reasons why you should not come
Please come and bring many friends, this night will be a night of untamed fun to be remembered for months. Last year, we had the whole scene – including instructors and performers – dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, it was fantastic!
Here are the details:
- Friday, October 24th, doors open at 9:30pm, $10 cash, 21+
- @ Waid’s, 1212 E Jefferson (12th & Jefferson), Seattle
- Salsa music but also Merengue, Reggaeton, Bachata, Cha cha and some top 40 by DJ Izzy and DJ Victor
- Sizzling Salsa performances by Salsa Salvaje http://www.salsasalvaje.com/ and Salsa con Todo http://www.salsacontodo.com/ as well as a Break dancing performance
I have attached to this email the flyer for this event as well as a couple pictures from last year’s event.

Make Saturday Oct 25 a triple header- catch CocoLoco at ThirdPlace Books, Lake Forest Park – 7:30-9:45. There’s PLENTY OF ROOM on the dance floor there, so you can warm up before the contact sport of dancing at Nectar’s.

Hola friends,
I’ve been talking with our friends from the north, Canada eh, that we met in Corvallis. They have been dying for a road trip possibility to Seattle to move their cinturas! I’ve given them the date of the Holiday Party with Grupo Ashe and Charanga Danzon on Friday Dec. 19th. How many of you will be around for this?? If there are enough of us here to give them a great party, I think it would be worthwhile…otherwise we can wait and tell them about another future party.
They have invited us up to Vancouver for an event and have offered up living room floors, or knowledge of affordable hotels near the event.
(I plan on trying to attend) Here is the info:
On Saturday November 1st (8:30pm – 1:30am), the Cuban Fiesta is the place for people who like to social dance in an environment reminiscent of an island party.
This time we’ll have a dance performance by the energetic Cuban Salsa team ESTILO CUBANO, lead by Karlos Reyes, who will also be teaching a complimentary dance lesson at 9:30 pm.
FREE ADMISSION if you show up before 9:30 pm (not one minute later!).
DJ will play a merciless mix of Cuban Salsa, Reggaeton, Merengue, Bachata and Salsaton (the mix of Salsa and reggaeton).
Admission is $10 after 9:30 pm. Free parking underground (valid for three hours). Get ticket and have it stamped at Kentizen.
Kentizen Lounge (inside Tinseltown Mall in Chinatown, one block away from Stadium Skytrain Station. 88 West Pender @ Abbott

Hope everyone made it home safely and that you are all enjoying the extreme exhaustion after a weekend a great dancing! I managed to capture a few really nice clips of our group and I’d like to put together a short video, but I need more. Anyone have pictures and video that you are willing to share?
If so, drop me a line so we can arrange to transfer the files: chaillemount@live.com And stay tuned for more Seattle Xtreme Casino, soon to be released to a YouTube channel near you….

This is Duane Wrenn from Energetic Soul (in Michigan). Those of you who were in Corvallis know firsthand what an awesome dancer he is. Duane will be teaching at the Feb-2009 Salsa Rueda Festival in San Francisco. http://www.salsaruedafestival.com/
